Marine City Megastructure was a proposed futuristic city conceptualized by metabolist architect Kiyonori Kikutake. He formed plans for a floating structure which would sustain life upon the sea, creating an entirely new paradigm for urban living. It would be free from any country and free from war. The city would have been formed like a concentric circle, with a diameter of 4 km and a number of industrial zones on the outskirts. Residential towers in the center would house 50,000 individuals. Marine City Megastructure is a manifestation of the philosophy surrounding the metabolist movement. It accentuates the relationship between humans and the buildings we live in, and portrays buildings as one would portray biological entities.
