The Osaka Prefectural Sayamaike Museum, designed by Japanese critical regionalist architect Tadao Ando, is a historical museum which houses a number of Japanese artifacts. The structure is surrounded by ponds, streams, and flowing water. These elements are integrated into the building itself, accentuating and complimenting its minimalist spaces. With sheer and precise design, Ando pushes the structure to the brink of non-conceptualism. Light, shadow, and water are just as much a part of the building as the concrete itself.
